Office Moving Cost in Toronto

Priced on the survey, scheduled around your trading hours.

The real cost of an office move is not the invoice - it is the days you cannot trade. That is why commercial moves are quoted after a site survey rather than over the phone: the freight elevator window, the dock time and the building rules decide the schedule, and the schedule decides the price.

The underlying rates are the same ones behind every Movemiles quote - crew time plus a $350 truck and travel charge - but an office move is delivered as a fixed written quote against an agreed plan, so your finance team gets one number.

The figures below are indicative for common office sizes in Toronto and the GTA, generated from our live rate table. Your quote comes from the survey.

What moves the number

What Makes a Move Cost More

Freight elevator and dock windows

Downtown towers release limited after-hours windows. A move that fits inside one window costs far less than one spread across two nights.

Desk and workstation count

Workstations drive both crew size and truck runs. Benching that must be dismantled and rebuilt is a bigger job than desks that roll.

IT and server equipment

We move and reconnect monitors, docks and peripherals by seat. Servers and network hardware should be disconnected by your IT provider, and we schedule around them.

Furniture installation

If new furniture is arriving, the install can be combined with the move so it is one crew and one invoice instead of two vendors.

Old furniture disposal

Clearing desks and cabinets you are not taking is quoted with the move, and is usually cheaper than leaving it for the landlord to charge you.

Phasing

Larger relocations move in phases so parts of the business stay live. That costs more in total hours but nothing in downtime.

FAQs

Cost Questions

How much does it cost to move an office in Toronto?

Small offices of five to ten desks are typically a single after-hours session. The table above gives indicative figures; a firm quote follows a survey of both buildings.

Do you charge more for evenings and weekends?

No. Most commercial moves happen outside business hours, so it is our normal way of working rather than a premium.

Can we get a fixed price rather than hourly?

Yes. Commercial relocations are quoted as a fixed written price against an agreed plan, so there is one number for your finance team.

How much downtime should we expect?

For most small and mid-size offices, none during working hours. We load after close and have you set up before you open.

Do you handle the building paperwork?

Yes. Certificates of insurance for both buildings and the freight elevator and dock bookings are arranged before the day, at no extra charge.

Can you dispose of old furniture?

Yes, on the same booking, which is normally cheaper than a landlord clearing it and billing you.

Do you require a deposit?

It depends on the move. A deposit is not required on every booking, but on some - long-distance, commercial and specialty jobs in particular - we do take one. Call us at +1 (289) 943-8110 and we will confirm what applies to your move before you book. Where a deposit is taken, it comes off your final invoice.
