How Much Do Movers Cost in Toronto?
Real rates, worked examples, and the things that quietly add hours to your bill.
Most moving companies will not give you a number until they have your phone number. That is not caution, it is a sales tactic - and it makes it impossible to budget.
Here is how ours works. You pay an hourly rate for the crew, plus one truck and travel charge of $350 that covers getting the truck to you and back. Nothing else is added unless you ask for it.
Every figure on this page is pulled from the same rate table our quote calculator uses. If we change our prices, this page changes with them.
Our rates
What Movemiles Charges
| Apartment or condo with elevator | $80/hr | Two movers, truck and equipment included. |
|---|---|---|
| Apartment or condo, no elevator | $80/hr | Walk-ups take longer, so stairs show up as hours rather than a surcharge. |
| House, semi or townhouse | $80/hr | More rooms, more furniture, usually a full day. |
| Three-storey townhouse | $80/hr | Three levels of stairs at both ends. |
| Truck & travel | $350 | One charge per move, covering the truck to and from your address. |
| Distance over 100 km | $3/km | Only applies past the first 100 km. Local Toronto moves never reach it. |
| Packing crew | $90/hr | Optional. Materials included when we pack for you. |

What Makes a Move Cost More
Stairs and elevators
A booked service elevator is the fastest case. A shared elevator you have to wait for, or a third-floor walk-up, can add two hours to the same amount of furniture.
How far the truck can park
On downtown streets the truck is often half a block away. That long carry is real time, which is why we ask for the address rather than just the postal code.
How much is actually packed
The single biggest overrun is a home that is not ready. Boxes sealed and stacked by the door before we arrive can save a couple of hours of crew time.
Heavy and specialty items
Pianos, safes, treadmills and appliances need specific equipment and sometimes an extra person. Tell us in advance and it is priced, not improvised.
Time of month
The last few days of the month and the first of the month are the busiest in the city. Booking mid-month gives you more choice of slot, not a different rate.
Add-ons you choose
Packing, unpacking and junk removal are optional and quoted separately, so you can see exactly what each one costs before you add it.
