How Much Do Movers Cost in Toronto?

Real rates, worked examples, and the things that quietly add hours to your bill.

Most moving companies will not give you a number until they have your phone number. That is not caution, it is a sales tactic - and it makes it impossible to budget.

Here is how ours works. You pay an hourly rate for the crew, plus one truck and travel charge of $350 that covers getting the truck to you and back. Nothing else is added unless you ask for it.

Every figure on this page is pulled from the same rate table our quote calculator uses. If we change our prices, this page changes with them.

What moves the number

What Makes a Move Cost More

Stairs and elevators

A booked service elevator is the fastest case. A shared elevator you have to wait for, or a third-floor walk-up, can add two hours to the same amount of furniture.

How far the truck can park

On downtown streets the truck is often half a block away. That long carry is real time, which is why we ask for the address rather than just the postal code.

How much is actually packed

The single biggest overrun is a home that is not ready. Boxes sealed and stacked by the door before we arrive can save a couple of hours of crew time.

Heavy and specialty items

Pianos, safes, treadmills and appliances need specific equipment and sometimes an extra person. Tell us in advance and it is priced, not improvised.

Time of month

The last few days of the month and the first of the month are the busiest in the city. Booking mid-month gives you more choice of slot, not a different rate.

Add-ons you choose

Packing, unpacking and junk removal are optional and quoted separately, so you can see exactly what each one costs before you add it.

FAQs

Cost Questions

Do movers in Toronto charge by the hour or a flat rate?

Local moves are hourly - our crew rate plus a single $350 truck and travel charge. Long-distance moves are quoted flat-rate so the price cannot move on the day.

Is there a minimum charge?

Yes, there is a short minimum booking so a crew and truck are not dispatched for twenty minutes of work. We tell you the minimum before you book.

Do you charge for travel time or fuel?

There is one $350 truck and travel charge per move, and it is in your quote from the start. There is no separate fuel surcharge and no charge for the drive back to the depot.

Do you require a deposit?

It depends on the move. A deposit is not required on every booking, but on some - long-distance, commercial and specialty jobs in particular - we do take one. Call us at +1 (289) 943-8110 and we will confirm what applies to your move before you book. Where a deposit is taken, it comes off your final invoice.

What if the move takes longer than estimated?

You pay for the hours worked at the same rate. We would rather give you an honest range upfront than a low quote that grows on moving day.

Is insurance included?

Yes. Liability and cargo coverage are part of every move, with the standard protection included at $32.
