Apartment Moving Cost in Toronto

Stairs, parking and how much is packed - the three things that set the price.

Apartment moves are the most commonly under-quoted job in the city, because the two things that drive the cost are the two things nobody asks about on the phone: how many flights of stairs, and how close the truck can park.

We charge $80 an hour for two movers with the truck and equipment, plus one $350 truck and travel charge. We do not add a separate stair fee - stairs show up honestly as time, and we tell you the range before you book.

The figures below come straight from the rate table our quote calculator runs on.

What moves the number

What Makes a Move Cost More

Number of flights

Every box goes down the stairs and up the other side. Three flights on both ends can add two hours to an otherwise identical move, which is why we ask before quoting.

Where the truck can park

On a permit-only residential street the truck may sit a hundred metres away. That walk repeats on every trip and is the most under-estimated cost in an apartment move.

How ready you are

Everything boxed, sealed and stacked by the door before the crew arrives is the single cheapest thing you can do. Packing while movers wait is billed at the same hourly rate.

Furniture that fights the stairwell

Sofas and mattresses that need legs removed or doors taken off hinges add time. If a piece genuinely will not fit, we tell you before the day rather than during it.

Month-end timing

The first and last days of the month are when every lease in the city turns over. Booking mid-month gets you a better choice of slot at the same rate.

Elevator sharing

In a low-rise with one passenger lift shared with residents, the crew waits. Booking it where the building allows saves real money.

FAQs

Cost Questions

How much does it cost to move a 1-bedroom apartment in Toronto?

Typically 3 to 5 hours with an elevator, or 4 to 6 in a walk-up, at $80 an hour plus the $350 truck and travel charge.

Do you charge extra for stairs?

No separate stair fee. Stairs make the move take longer, so they are factored into the hours in the estimate you approve before moving day.

What happens if the truck cannot park nearby?

We check the address ahead of time and plan the long carry into the quote rather than adding it to your invoice afterwards.

Can I lower the cost?

Yes - be fully packed before the crew arrives, disassemble what you can, reserve the elevator, and book mid-month rather than on the 1st or the 31st.

Is there a minimum booking?

Yes, a short minimum so a truck and crew are not dispatched for a few minutes of work. We tell you what it is before you book.

Do you require a deposit?

It depends on the move. A deposit is not required on every booking, but on some - long-distance, commercial and specialty jobs in particular - we do take one. Call us at +1 (289) 943-8110 and we will confirm what applies to your move before you book. Where a deposit is taken, it comes off your final invoice.
