Moving in Liberty Village

Liberty Village is two different moving jobs on the same few streets. The newer towers on Hanna, Pirandello and East Liberty run on booked service elevators, underground loading docks and a certificate of insurance filed with management before you arrive. The converted brick lofts on Atlantic and Mowat have none of that - just a freight lift if you are lucky, a narrow stair if you are not.

We move both every week, so we ask which one you are in before we quote. A hard loft with a 12-foot ceiling and a steel staircase takes longer than a same-size condo with a dock, and pretending otherwise just produces a wrong number.

Truck access is the other Liberty Village problem. The internal streets are narrow, frequently under construction, and several buildings have a height-restricted underground entrance a five-tonne truck cannot use. We check clearance before the day rather than discovering it at the ramp.

How long it takes

A one-bedroom Liberty Village condo is typically a 3 to 4 hour move.

Almost all of that time is between the unit and the dock, not on the road. A booked service elevator with the pads already up is the difference between three hours and five.

FAQs

Liberty Village Moving Questions

How long does a Liberty Village condo move take?

A one-bedroom is usually 3 to 4 hours and a two-bedroom 4 to 6, assuming a booked service elevator. Sharing a passenger lift with residents adds an hour or more.

Do you provide a certificate of insurance?

Yes, at no charge. Send us your property management contact when you book and we file it ahead of moving day, which most Liberty Village buildings require before they release the elevator.

Can your truck fit in the underground loading dock?

It depends on the building - several have low clearance. Tell us the address and we check the height limit first, and load from street level where the dock will not take a truck.

Do you move the hard lofts on Atlantic and Mowat?

Yes. Those are slower moves because of the stairs and the ceiling heights, and we quote them as such rather than pricing them like a tower condo.

What does a move in Liberty Village cost?

It is hourly, plus a single truck and travel charge. Our Toronto moving cost page has the current rates and worked examples.
